Hello Again!

"Summertime and the livin' is easy..." Not! Seems I've been busier that ever lately. Okay- I'm making excuses for not keeping up to date here.
Last blog I mentioned creating a list of "must haves" for your blues collection. Here are just a few to start:
Bessie Smith "Empty Bed Blues"
Lonnie Johnson "Steppin' on the Blues"
Robert Johnson "The Complete Recordings" (2 disc box set)
Memphis Minnie "Hot Stuff"(1930-41)
Joe Turner "Tell Me Pretty Baby"
Champion Jack Dupree "New Orleans Barrelhouse Boogie" and "Blues From the Gutter"
Sonny Boy Williamson "King Biscuit Time"
Big Maceo "The Bluebird Recordings 1941-1942"
T-Bone Walker "The Complete Imperial Recordings, 1950-1954"
Big Mama Thornton "Ball and Chain"
Freddy King "Texas Sensation"
Big Maybelle "The Complete OKeh Sessions 1952-55"
Magic Sam "1957-1966 West Side Guitar"
Junior Wells "1957-1963 Messin' With the Kid"
Elmore James "The Sky is Crying"
Otis Rush "1956-1958 Cobra Recordings"
Irma Thomas "Something Good/ The Muscle Shoals Sessions" and "Time is on My Side"
Snooks Eaglin "Country Boy in New Orleans"
Albert King "The Complete King and Bobbin Recordings"
Johnny Guitar Watson "3 Hours Past Midnight"
Lightning Hopkins "The Gold Star Sessions Volumes 1 & 2"
Brownie McGhee "The Folkway Years, 1945-1959"
Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee "Hometown Blues"

So there you have it! A short list of some of my all time favorites. Obviously there are some major holes, but as I said it's just a start. These are all available on CD. I have some wonderful records that I would love to get in CD form- Lula Reed, Bobby Bland, Howlin' Wolf, B.B. King, Buddy Guy... later.
That's it for now! Rock on!
Robin
